Dates of issue:2006-present (one ounce), 2008 only (fractional denominations)
Obverse: (designed by James Earle Fraser) A rendition of Fraser's indian head design originally used on the five cent coin in 1913. An indian chief faces right with LIBERTY along the rim on the right side of the design. The date appears on the indian's shoulder, and the mintmark (if there is one) appears in the field above the shoulder.
Reverse: (designed by James Earle Fraser) An American Bison stands facing the left side of the design. The legend and gold weight surround the buffalo.
Composition/weight:
All Issues: 99.99% fine gold, 0.001% copper.
