Modern Coin Info Open to the Public!

On January 01, 2009, Modern Coin Info (www.moderncoininfo.com) officially opened its doors to the public. After a long battle with data organization, developer Charles D. Daughtrey completed the framework to the site on December 30, 2008 and submitted the site map to the major search engines. The data base had to be rebuilt more than once to accept updates which were not foreseen in the initial stages of building the site.

JMRC President John Maben and the whole staff at JMRC are excited to provide this new service to the public. "It's our way of giving back to the collecting community," Maben says. He continues, "Many web sites only pay attention to the older classic coins, and neglect the niche of the numismatic industry that serves a growing number of collectors - modern coins. We hope to fill the void of useful information on the intenet with this site."

Modern Coin Info is free for all to use, and with over 13,000 different pages on the site, there are plenty of things to see here. Developer Charles D. Daughtrey said, "We understand there are still some holes in the information, but with a site of this magnitude that should be understandable while we continue to work on those holes. We should be finished with everything by the end of this year." Once completed there will be well over 13,000 images hosted on a growing list of modern coin issues that currently numbers over 6,500.
