About Modern Coin Info

ModernCoinInfo.com was launched in August, 2007 to become the most comprehensive encyclopedia on modern American coinage. Here you will find expertly researched information on every modern series, including each state quarter, commemoratives, and modern precious metal coins, accompanied with high-resolution images, as well as mintage figures and NGC census data for every date/mintmark, as well as many popular varieties. As new coins are released, Modern Coin Info will be continuously updated.

Who's Behind Modern Coin Info?

Modern Coin Info is the brainchild of John F. Maben. Site design was initially provided by Jeremy Katz then redesigned by Charles D. Daughtrey. The writing content was provided by renowned numismatic researcher David W. Lange, Charles D. Daughtrey, and John Maben.

  • John F. Maben, the founder and owner of John Maben Rare Coins, is one of the world’s premier coin grading and authentication authorities. Entering the coin business full time in 1978, he has graded for both PCGS and NGC. Prior to starting his own business, he served as Executive Vice President and Grading Finalizer for NGC.
  • David W. Lange is one of the foremost authorities in numismatics and has authored numerous reference volumes. He is a regular columnist for numismatic periodicals and teacher at coin seminars, and he currently serves as the Director of Research at NGC.
  • Charles D. Daughtrey has specialized in Lincoln cents since 1982 and has published two books on the series. A skilled computer programmer and numismatic artist, Charles has devoted much of his time to numismatic web development, creating a reference website featuring over 2,000 Lincoln cent varieties and providing art for six books.
